The Galveston County Fair & Rodeo Summer Series weekly work points update will be posted here.
Each contestant/family must accumulate ten {10) work points half in arena & half in concession stand to receive points/ year-end awards. The work Points are per family (10 points per family) Half your work points need to be completed by week 3 and the other half by the end of week 6.
Arena: Each contestant/family member must complete five (5) hours total for a total of five (5) work points. We suggest you accumulate at least 1 work point in the arena for each night they participate. Each two (2) events worked is one (1) point. The sign-up sheet for work points will be located on the table outside the office. Must write first and last name of contestant working or working for to receive credit. Work shifts for arena MUST be verified & signed off by the Arena Committee Member in charge, if it is not verified and signed off at end of shift, you did not work. (New this year: there will be a committee person in the arena you will check in with; at the end of your shift you will check out with the committee person and they will check you off and give you credit for your shift.) All gate workers must be 18 years old. Sign up must be done prior to 6:30 PM before the start of Rodeo. THE ONLY ARENA EVENTS PARENTS ARE ALLOWED TO HELP WITH IS BARRELS, POLES, AND CHUTE BREAKAWAY UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY RONNIE COOLEY, WADE HUNT, OR PHILLIP ALEXANDER.
Concession Stand: Each contestant/family member must complete five (5) hours total for 5 work points. A one (1) hour shift in concession stand is worth one (1) point. Sign up in the concession stand only. Must be 16 years of age to work concession. Be sure to write the first and last name of the contestant working or working for, time in and time out to receive credit. Concession Committee (Wade Hunt, Sr., Margaret Hunt, Lynette Mote, Crystal Ellis) must sign off at end of shift.
If a contestant has a problem obtaining work points, they must contact GCF&R SS Committee Chairman (Ronnie Cooley), Arena Director (Phillip Alexander), or Rodeo Superintendent (Wade Hunt) to set up a meeting and they will meet and decide outcome.
